Roscoe
With our dog, Roscoe, we had a problem with his reactions to other dogs. He was growling, barking, jumping to get to the other dog. He was also inexplicably afraid of the sound of a clicker of any sort, so we needed another method to train him. Heather came to our house and worked with us by showing us the timing of how to treat and when to treat/praise when passing other dogs. She helped us see how to hold the leash correctly and that made a big difference to Roscoe. Heather worked up a plan for us to work with Roscoe and we have followed it for months now and Roscoe is just keeps getting better. Without Heather’s help, Roscoe would not be the happy, healthy dog he is today.

Hunter loves visiting Heather at Pop Star Dogs. She helped him (and me) with some behavioral issues, realizing he wasn’t reactive but was a frustrated greeter. This helped a lot when we encountered a couple off leash dogs and we were able to have me not freak out and he got lost of licks, sniffs (and treats) along with the other dogs. Really helped me with a potentially stressed encounter. And Hunter loves ‘his’ little girl, and she loves ‘her’ big dog!! (Heather’s daughter) He gets excited when we turn into the driveway since he knows he’s going to have space to run, a great place to rest, and favorite people to play with. And lots of photos and texts while I’m away relieves a bit of the guilt of leaving him when I travel. Great place for him.

Bismarck
It’s been very difficult to find boarding services for our dog, Bismarck. When we rescued him from a local shelter, we didn’t realize the extent of his fear towards humans. Because he initially seems fearful or even aggressive when encountering an unfamiliar situation or strangers, we were uncomfortable leaving him in a traditional kennel. In fact, we postponed several vacations simply because we couldn’t find someone who would work with our unique circumstances. Fortunately, we found Heather at Pop Star Dogs. Heather was more than willing to listen to our needs and take the time to learn about Bismarck’s personality. Upon arrival, Heather gave Bismarck time and space to adjust to his new surroundings. He had access to a large, invisible fenced-in yard, with a temperature controlled cottage that afforded Bismarck the chance to bond with Heather on his own terms. During his stay, Heather sent us daily updates with photos, so we could relax and see for ourselves how well he was progressing. By the end of his stay, Bismarck and Heather were fast friends. Pop Star dogs gave us the freedom to travel without having to worry about our dog’s well-being. We always know that Bismarck is having the time of his life and enjoying vacation as much as we are. We can’t recommend Heather and Pop Star Dogs enough!

We are so pleased that we found Heather for our two Lab mixes, Cindy and Pat–can’t say enough good things about Pop Star Dogs! We always joke that our dogs are “vacationing in the country” at Heather’s. She has provided boarding and training services to us for nearly two years now and we have great confidence in her experience. Heather administers medication and provides a warm, safe environment where our dogs thrive. The setting is perfect–a huge grassy electric fenced-in area, along with a separate, spacious home for the dogs. Cindy and Pat play with Heather’s little daughters and have a swell time. We especially like receiving photos while we’re on vacation to see what everyone’s up to at Pop Stars. We absolutely recommend Heather and Pop Star Dogs.

In 2015 we adopted two rescue dogs and were looking for a boarding facility for them to stay in while we were on vacation. I was so grateful to find Heather, she truly cares and the pups have space to run and play compared to other facilities where you pay extra for them to go on walks or have extra interaction with the staff. Moka was our first rescue, super loving but a bit fearful in new situations and meeting new people. It took her a couple days to open up, but Heather gave Moka the space she needed and before long she had found a new friend. Bailey had a lot of puppy energy so having 2 acres to run on must have been a dream come true. I’m pretty sure when the dogs go to Heather’s they feel like they are on vacation too, and we can enjoy our time away because we know the pups are well taken care of and having fun.

Our dogs love staying with Heather. In fact, we call it “summer camp.” When we’re driving there and are a few blocks away, they get SO excited! We feel so lucky to have such a wonderful place for our dogs to stay when we are out of town. We know they are safe, are having a blast running around, and are well taken care of. Heather’s background in positive training also makes it a no-brainer decision for us. There is just no other person we would feel as comfortable with taking care of our dogs as Heather. We love boarding our dogs with her.

We found Heather when we were looking for people to board our dog, Penny, who does not enjoy meeting new people or new dogs. Penny does not trust many people, but Heather has become one of those people, thanks to her calming personality, strategic use of tripe (stinky dog treats!), experience with challenging dogs, and logistical set up to board dogs with unique needs. During our first visit, Heather was sure to send us frequent updates, which we gave us peace of mind about Penny. Our second dog, Iggy, loves everything- especially helping Heather with the “yard work,” or rearranging branches. In addition to her skills and understanding of canines, Heather is very quick to respond to communication. We have recommended her services to our friends and our puppies look forward to their next visit!
